Cannabidiol (CBD for short) is a chemical compound that is extracted in oil form from cannabis. CBD is one of at least 113 active cannabinoids identified in cannabis.
There are 2 different “types” of CBD oil products: (a) where the CBD has been extracted from marijuana, and (b) where the CBD has been extracted from hemp. CBD products from marijuana contain more than 0.3% THC, thus making them a schedule 1 drug so they are only available in medical marijuana states. CBD products from hemp contain only trace amounts of THC (less than 0.3%) so they are currently legal in all 50 states and can be purchased online.
