How Many Drops of CBD Oil Should I Take?

Once you’ve determined the right serving size of CBD oil for you, you need to figure out how many drops are needed to get that serving size. Here’s a step-by-step guide to calculate the number of drops of CBD oil that you need to achieve a desired serving size.

Or click here for a handy calculator to calculate the number of milligrams in each drop and the number of drops required for your desired serving size.

Step 1: First look at the CBD oil product you have. Make a note of the number of millileters of liquid in the bottle and the number of milligrams of CBD in the bottle. For example purposes, let’s say that you want to calculate how many drops you need to get a serving size of 25mg from a 15ml bottle of CBD oil drops that contains 500mg of CBD.

Step 2: Calculate the number of total drops in your bottle. There are approximately 20 drops in a millileter. So to calculate the number of total drops in your CBD oil bottle, multiply the number of millileters in the bottles by 20. In our example, a 15ml bottle will have approximately 300 drops (15 millileters x 20 drops in a millileter = 300 total drops in the bottle).

Step 3: Calculate the amount of CBD in each drop. To do this, divide the total number of milligrams of CBD in the bottle by the total number of drops in the bottle as calculated in Step 2. In our example, there are 1.7 milligrams of CBD per drop (500 milligrams of CBD in bottle / 300 total drops in bottle = 1.7 milligrams of CBD per drop).

Step 4: Calculate how many drops are needed to achieve your desired serving size. To do this, divide the desired serving size in milligrams by the number of milligrams of CBD per drop as calculated in Step 3. In our example, you would need to take 15 drops to get a serving size of 25mg (25 milligram desired serving size / 1.7 milligrams of CBD per drop = 15 drops).

Keep in mind that the number of drops needed to achieve a certain serving size can be very different depending on the concentration of the CBD oil that you are using. To illustrate this, let’s run through the calculation for a 15ml bottle of CBD oil that contains 1000mg of CBD. There are approximately 300 drops in the bottle (15ml x 20 drops per millileter). There are 3.3 mg of CBD per drop (1000mg / 300 drops). To get a CBD serving size of 25mg, you’d need to take about 8 drops (25 mg desired serving size / 3.3mg per drop). So you need fewer drops of more concentrated CBD oil to achieve the same serving size.
